Comme Des Fuckdown

2011

I considered making a new video of all of 2011, but you’ll have to wait until the 4th of July to see how this one ends.

This time of year everyone is so cloying and sentimental — theatrics about a new beginning, about the past and the future, and all that has changed… It’s ridiculous! Every day is a new opportunity to change your life, and instead of looking to the past with an affected sentimentality or to the future with confused idealism, just wake up and do your best. That’s all you have to do.

When I show this video to friends their first comment is always the same, “can you slow it down? It’s going too fast!”  It’s life, it doesn’t slow down…

I LOVE THE KITTY!
I’ve had a pretty incredible Halloween — it’s a weeklong event in Los Angeles, not just a day — and this year it feels a lot Coachella… but with less clothes and more latex. I have thousands of photos I’m posting on TheCobrasnake.com so check it out for some of the best and sexiest parties in Hollywood.
Then it’s back to business as usual…

After the west coast launch of Japanese underground fashion label _Julius 7 last night at H. Lorenzo, my friends and I moved on to the soft opening of Nur Kahn’s Writer’s Room, a kind of secret bar hidden behind L.A.’s oldest restaurant.
Last week Paul & André concluded its six month experiment as the only cool place to go in a town obsessed with image, and tonight is the end of an era as Teddy’s celebrates one last night before closing its doors to a generation that grew up with the exclusive bar… which leaves a giant void in Hollywood, but after just one night in the revamped spot, I’m pretty sure Writer’s Room will take over as the only place to be.
I’m actually really sad about Teddy’s — I have so many memories of the place, so many good times with people I love, friends that have become my family… but that’s a story for another time.

Real Hip-Hop with my man KRS ONE.
I hadn’t been out for like a week, but last night around midnight I got the text to get down to my friend Adam’s party, and I knew I couldn’t miss it. In about twelve minutes I went from kicking back on my couch to walking into AFEX as KRS ONE approached the stage.
For the next two hours the crowd lost their minds as he dropped everything from Criminal Minded and Sounds of The Police to covers of Biggie and Tupac to freestyles over Vivaldi. When it seemed like shit couldn’t get any crazier, Doug E. Fresh stepped to the stage and crushed some beatbox for KRS and Mad Lion, then dropped a lesson on how to Dougie. This is why I love LA, on any given night you never know what can happen in fifteen minutes…

LIGHTS OUT NECK FACE
NECK FACE bombed the interior of LA’s most exclusive club this week. Last week it was LISTER and Monsieur André… There are still celebrities getting trashed and rich girls dancing in Louboutins, but they’re doing it alongside kids with skateboards and montana fat-caps, girls with ripped tights and smeared makeup, and the DJs and club owners who come here to kick back after working the bourgeois clubs around town that make it into episodes of Entourage and magazine “Must See” lists.
Cameras aren’t allowed, there are no tables reserved for old men buying bottles or the young gold diggers they attract, and this place won’t make it onto a Must See list or a tourist guide anytime soon… it would need a real address first.
