Wow, she’s right, time does fly… I can’t believe how much has changed since this was shot a few months ago. Just looking around this picture (which appeared in NYLON Magazine a month later), my friend Todd Selby’s book (which was released that day) has become a huge hit, and The Cobra Shop (which opened that day) doesn’t even exist anymore… nor does my legendary Lacoste zipup sweater (which burned in a house fire a few days after this was taken, RIP) or that Shepard Fairey mural behind us (though I just saw Shepard last night DJing my friends’ party).

I also saw Ivey and Victoria last night… and we had a blast, just like we always do. I can’t imagine how many random people and things have come in and out of our lives this year, but that’s one thing that hasn’t changed and I hope never does.

A few days ago I got a text at 6pm saying, “Yo, come to this crazy Metallica concert in an airplane hangar. It starts in an hour.” I’ve said it before, but I don’t plan anything, if I tried I would miss out on a lot of living along the way. I called Ivey and told her I was picking her up in 30 minutes… she’s as DFW as I am which is why I love her.

That it was Metallica and that it was for some video game I had never heard of didn’t matter, we had such a good time. Metallica has been a joke since the Black album but they rocked the fuck out of the party… Shaun White, Taylor Momsen, Audrina Patridge (sans mom, sadly!), Zach Braff and Kobe Bryant were all enjoying the show. If you can’t tell, I’m leaning on 100,000 watts of speakers blasting Enter Sandman.

Hanging out with Gavin McInnes and Mark at a UCLA frat bar Monday night. Earlier, Gavin, Mark, and a few other friends participated in a discussion panel that attempted to define hipsters and discuss the state of hipsters as a prevalent youth culture.

I don’t think any of the people on stage were hipsters, to me they’re all hustlers and entrepreneurs, “hipster” is just their weapon of choice, and to a large extant for Gavin McInnes and Mark Hunter, their creation. Alexi Wasser summed up the panel pretty well by saying, “We’re all yuppies, we’re all creating things and making money off the internet, that’s all that ties us together… I shop at Target and drink Starbucks.”
