Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood (a Los Angeles neighborhood synonymous with its large homosexual population), the legendary hang out for the Ferus boys. The sign remained in the bar through the mid 1980s but is immortalized in Ed Kienholz’s 1965 installation, The Beanery, part of the permanent collection at the Stedelijk Museum.
