“And I swear to Sweet Athena of Greece: Strip me from your fucking reblog or choose to reblog someone who posted the same thing as me and you are UNFOLLOWED!”
(Note, this is NOT SOUP. I don’t know who said it originally, I deleted all reblog credit without really looking at it)
People need to calm the fuck down. I love the ego of microbloggers. Some of the people I follow post from a certain woman who makes such a fucking big deal about giving her credit, like if she’s reblogged enough she’s going to get her book deal and her seat on the couch next to Oprah, and maybe eventually some dick so she can stop writing gothy 9th-grader livejournal emo shit about how little she’s loved - it’s a fucking tiny insignificant blog! Do you add a copyright and byline every time you tell a joke in a bar? Or do you need to spider-credit everyone who tipped you off to whatever band you’re playing on your ipod in the real world?
Grow the fuck up kids, we’re not that important. A lot of people reblog me and strip out my name and leave all the others - I assume the word fuck too obscene for their delicate sensibilities, but I can’t emphasize how little I care if someone else somewhere in the world knows that *I* found the photo of the sexy tits first, or if I heard that 80s song we all loved this morning and decided to post it for everyone to reminisce. It’s like we exist in this bubble where we’re nothing but gluttons for media and so everyone wants to prove that they are the best because they excel at consumption (curation if you’re an asshole about it). If this is all you’ve got going for yourself, the one thing you have to hang onto and be good at, godspeed sons, you’re going to need it.
