Fences (Def Starr Remix) - Phoenix

Even though they’re the most overplayed radio rock band out right now, people who are into music have known about Phoenix for about a decade. They may be KROQs hot “new” band of 2010, but Indie 103.1 (R.I.P.) was playing them back in 2004 after Too Young was featured in Lost In Translation (Thomas, the band’s lead singer, is Sofia’s baby’s daddy).

On Monday my friend called me and told me to meet her in Hollywood right away, that their manager put us on the list for a mini set at Jimmy Kimmel, I said okay and before I hung up I was walking to my car. Twelve minutes, and a few blown red lights later we were walking up to the stage right as the band did. Even though it was just for a TV appearance, they did a ridiculously good set of six songs, then afterward we ended up hanging out with them at The Bar. It’s funny how in a few short minutes a boring Monday night can turn into something really fun.
